New Works

From a Bee's View
I have been locked away in my studio, having a wonderful time.
I am still learning more and more about sculpting, and still loving it.
But it was time to get back to what I know best and produce some new work for the gallery and the website.  Posted here are a couple of works in progress.
From a Bee's View,  can you image what a bee see's as he darts around and attempts to land on a flowere blowing in the wind.

Sculpting the figure

Continuing on with the sculpting training.  Here is a beginning of a piece from a workshop in Longview with Garland Weeks.
I am hooked on sculpting and I love the challenge of the figure.

Making some progess with sculpture

I wanted to post an image of what I have been learning with sculpting.
This is probally the third rework of the girl's head. I have made the head larger and removed the ears because there were then too small.  As you can see, I have only blocked them in.  From this picture they look a bit low, may have to raise them up.  I also think the eyes should be a little bit larger.

Giving myself permission to.......

Try my hands at sculpting, accept myself as a business owner, re-affirm that art is in the act more than the finished product.
This week started out with a new obsession with sculpting.  I usually start my day in the studio around 10 am.  But this week, I was in the studio by 6:30 and a couple of days I was still in my pj's.  I even dreamed of how to solve my sculpting challenges.
It really brings new fire to inspiration to step out and try something new.
I am not sure where it will go, but the experience is worth all the dirt that is left on the studio floor.
The week ended with a wonderful "Artist in Action" retreat with life coach, Judy Womack. I thank Judy and Kathy Rachal our hostess for a new perspective of my art/business.
Next week I will give myself permission:  <to be continued>
