Limited Palette Triad

Intersection
Acrylic on Paper
30 x 22

Using a limited palette of earth color triad in a abstract painting.
The colors used were yellow ochre, french blue, and transparent red oxide.
This is a great triad for painting landscapes,  but the challenge was to see how it would work in my abstract painting.  I usually layer and glazes with transparent and complimentary colors. Only one of these was transparent.  The approach had to be different than usual.  But I think I came up with three very good pieces.

A clean and organized studio.

I spent this past weekend rearranging and organizing my studio.  I have a great space, but it does get cluttered, as I expect most artist studios do.  I try to keep a station for each art medium I use.  Probably need to give up one or two, but love them all.  I think I have designed a good work area for each and it is flexible enough to expand some space to the station I will be using that day. I totally flipped sides with every thing, getting most of my easels and worktables closer to the north light window. I also was able to create a better office area, so it will be easy to keep up with my blogs, newsletters, and website.  Over the sculpture cabinet, I had space to set up my photography board.  It is in the a darker corner of the room and I have plenty of room to set up the tripod and lights.  I am very proud of my "new" space and I am hoping it will encourage me to keep it clean and organized.  For a while anyway or a least I can hope.
