I love the texture and layers in this. It has transparent washes and well as more opaque areas that were developed by applying liquid gesso and then continuing with the washes. Torn pieces of older watercolors were recycled into the work. Stamps were also used to give added interest and texture.
I will be giving a class at Mineola League of the Arts, March 4 and 5, 2009 in this technique.

My quick study today is one from memory again. The weather has been so nice and warm this week. It is not quite time for the dogwoods, still a few more weeks. But then, traveling down the road to my house, the woods will be blanketed with lacy white blooms that seem to float like clouds.

I did this quick study today from memory. Ground Hog day has passed and accordingly we are due 6 more weeks of winter. I am tired of winter and ready to see some color in nature bursting out. So I thought I would pull some of that feeling from my memory and paint a little memory of a warm summer day. Sunflowers have always been one of my favorites. I hope this brings the warmth of the summer sun to mind for you.

4x6 oil
Hansa Yellow
Just another study, since I didn't get to paint a floral yesterday.

My Daily Floral Study
5x7 Oil on Linen
Begonia Blooms
This is the second in my small floral studies. I had to search through photos to find a flower. Tomorrow I will think before I begin to paint and go to the floral shop and pick a bloom.
